About this work
This chromolithographic plate from a medical text shows two views of a diseased stomach, one with branching blood vessels and dark haemorrhagic spots, the other opened to reveal dark ulcerated patches across the mucous membrane. The labelled figures and section heading identify the plate as part of a study of digestive organ diseases, produced by Jean Allard Jeancon in 1888.
