About this work
A colored lithograph titled Kruidenierswinkel by Hendrik Jan van Lummel, dated 1841, showing the interior of a grocery shop. A shopkeeper in a blue coat stands behind a wooden counter with brass scales, weights and a coffee grinder, while shelves hold labeled boxes, green tea canisters and numbered barrels of white beans, rice and coffee. Sacks marked gort and erwten sit on the floor beside a sign reading zout.
