About this work
A chromolithographic print showing a farmer guiding a team of oxen pulling a plow across a furrowed field, while a togaed man and armored, helmeted soldiers look on from the right. Cypress trees, a hillside and a whitewashed villa with terracotta roofs form the background under a cloudy sky. The print is credited to Anton Hoffmann and dated 1920, with the title Cincinnatus behind the plow.
