About this work
A richly colored lithographic street view shows a busy avenue lined with multi-storey commercial buildings, their facades crowded with advertising signs for jewelers, insurers and tailors. Horse-drawn carriages, delivery wagons and pedestrians fill the cobbled roadway beneath dense overhead telegraph wires, with the Western Union Telegraph Co. tower rising at the vanishing point.
