About this work
This triptych print titled Japanese, published by George Philip & Son in 1920, shows children of Japan in kimono during a lantern-lit festival procession beneath a torii gate and blossoming wisteria. The side panels depict a street scene with a parasol and a domestic interior with a folding screen, a woman playing a shamisen, and a mother holding an infant.
