About this work
A hand-colored scientific plate shows spherical Volvox colonies in cross-section, with numbered daughter colonies and reproductive stages drawn in green and cream tones. A single flagellate with two long whip-like flagella and a red eyespot appears at the lower center, beside a spiny brown cell. The work is a print dated 1910 by Karl Ludwig Alfred Fiedler, from the Flagellaten plate series.
