About this work
This Japanese woodblock print by Utagawa Kunisada (Toyokuni III), dated 1849-1850, shows a richly dressed courtly figure beneath flowering cherry branches. A white heron rests on the patterned purple robe, and a lakeside landscape with pine trees and a red sunset glow fills the background within an oval frame.
