About this work
A woodcut-style print shows the emperor Heraclius in profile within a circular medallion, wearing a tall crown and a fur-trimmed robe, with his hand raised to his beard. The medallion bears the Latin inscription HERACLIVS CAESAR AVG IMP around its border, and the portrait sits inside an elaborate architectural frame with scrollwork and a caption below. The work is attributed to Jacopo Strada and dated 1559.
