About this work

This woodcut-style print shows a laureate male profile bust in a circular medallion framed by ornate Renaissance-style architectural decoration. Latin inscriptions around the medallion and in a panel below identify the sitter as Septimius Severus, with the title Effigies L. Septimii Severi Pertinacis XXI Imperatoris at the top.
