About this work
A lithograph shows a locomotive shaped like an enormous boot, labeled Lightning Express, emitting a cloud of flying boots and shoes over a city street. Freight cars carry boxes advertising boots, slippers, polish and brogans, while onlookers, a dog and pigs crowd the tracks. The print is attributed to Gibson & Co.
