About this work

A hand-colored caricature shows three sailors riding horses in a comic, chaotic scene, with one man sprawled on the ground and a ship visible on the water behind them. Handwritten dialogue in the upper and left margins gives the sailors' complaints about horseback riding. The print was made by Thomas Rowlandson and published in 1811.
