About this work
A hand-colored satirical print by Thomas Rowlandson, dated 1814, titled Peace throughout Europe. Winged angels blow trumpets above a canopied throne, while a crowd of figures tumbles down steps and soldiers, drummers and mounted riders gather at the sides. Inscriptions name Charlemagne, Nassau, Capet, Bourbon, Wellington and Blucher beneath the flags and weapons.
