About this work
A lithograph in soft crayon tones shows a mounted military officer seen from behind, wearing a tall shako with a plume and holding an upright staff with a small flag. A second rider appears small on a distant rise at the right, set against sparse grass and low shrubs. The drawing is signed by its maker and dated 1816, with a printer's credit at lower right.
