About this work
A lithograph by Godefroy Engelmann titled Group of Indian men and women shows five figures in traditional dress, with feathered headdresses, layered beaded necklaces, and draped garments. Two women sit at the left while three men stand at the right, one holding a long pipe and another raising a staff overhead. The soft gray tonal shading gives the group a formal, documentary character.
