About this work

A dense etched naval battle scene shows large sailing warships under billowing sails and rigging, surrounded by thick clouds of gun smoke over choppy water. Smaller vessels and the broader fleet recede toward the horizon on both sides. The print is William Lionel Wyllie's 1893 depiction of The Battle of Trafalgar, held in the PDX collection.
