About this work
A chromolithographic print shows American warships firing on a coastal fortress during the bombardment of San Juan, with billowing smoke, gun flashes, and a damaged Spanish flag on a broken mast. A small inset portrait of Rear Admiral Sampson appears at lower left, and the title is printed below the scene. The print was produced by Muller, Luchsinger & Co. in 1898.
