About this work
A black and white lithograph shows a busy yard beside a long open horse shed, where grooms wash, dry and blanket horses while gentlemen in top hats wait beside carriages and buggies. A striped awning and a chimney mark the building at right, and a large tree shades the scene on the left. This print, titled A 'stopping place' on the road; the horse shed, was published by Currier & Ives in 1868.
