About this work
A colour lithographic print from 1895 by the Calvert Litho. Co shows a batter in a white uniform with a red belt and striped cap, gripping a wooden bat, while a masked catcher in a chest protector crouches behind him and an umpire in a blue shirt stands at the rear. The scene is set on a dirt infield beside home plate under a pale sky.
