About this work
This pen-and-ink drawing shows a crowd of mounted figures in military uniforms, with donkeys in place of horses, on a field. A central figure in a tall hat and a larger group of cheering soldiers with raised swords and a bugler surround the scene, and a banner reads "Commander Staff." The work is signed by William Henry Walker and dated 1908 in the lower right corner.
