About this work
A pen-and-ink caricature shows a large, stout man in a dark coat and top hat striding across a sketched map of the United States, holding an eagle-topped staff. Labeled cities including New York, Washington D.C. Chicago, St. Louis, New Orleans and San Francisco are scattered across the landscape beneath his feet. The drawing is signed and dated 1911 and is catalogued as a print by William Henry Walker.
