About this work
A charcoal or crayon drawing shows a crowned, wine-bearing figure with a thyrsus-like staff, followed by a piper in a plumed hat and a dancing bacchante holding a tambourine labeled N.C.T.U. A dog accompanies the group, and a bottle is labeled with a partial word. The drawing, by William Henry Walker, is dated 1914 and styled after classical relief sculpture.
