About this work
A pen and ink cartoon shows a large ship labeled Ship of State, its hull crowded with clusters of small figures clinging beneath it while two men stand on the dock. Uncle Sam, in top hat and striped trousers, gestures toward the ship beside a stout figure with a tall helmet and cane. The drawing is signed William Henry Walker and dated 1912.
