About this work
A pen and ink caricature shows a bearded figure in a fez and sash aiming a long pistol at a stout European man in a top hat and military-style jacket with a cross emblem, who raises both hands in alarm. Sacks marked with sums of money lie on the ground, and a city skyline with domes and minarets appears behind them. William Henry Walker drew this work in 1916, and the title The unkindest kut of all is printed alongside the place name Kut-el-Amara.
