About this work
A charcoal and chalk political cartoon by William Henry Walker, dated 1903, shows a swirling tornado sweeping across the scene. A western figure in a wide-brimmed hat clutches a bag labeled Western Republican, while an elephant bearing a high tariff banner and a tumbling figure with an Eastern Republican bag are carried away by the storm.
