About this work
A charcoal-style drawing by William Henry Walker, dated 1916, shows a large weeping tree whose branches are hung with money bags and banknotes. Beneath it a reclining figure rests among heaps of bags, while a line of flagged ships sails along the water under a dark, stormy sky. A small boat marked U.S.N. and a uniformed figure beside a cannon appear on the shore at right.
