About this work
A pen and ink drawing shows an elegant woman in a flowing gown on the left, labeled France, while an older man in a dark coat and breeches extends his hand toward her. A seated woman in a lace-trimmed dress is labeled American Colonies and a small figure with a bird-like head bows at right. The ornate paneled room and decorated screen frame the scene, and the sketch is signed and dated 1915 by William Henry Walker.
