About this work
An ink drawing shows a large, heavy-set nude figure with hair in a bun, chained at the wrists to a rocky outcrop, gazing sideways. Above, a rider in a hat and winged, striped horse swings a club, while a grotesque sea creature with open jaws rises from the water below. The work is attributed to William Henry Walker and dated 1910, and its title refers to Perseus and Andromeda.
