About this work
A pen-and-ink drawing shows a large elephant-headed figure in a pinstriped suit standing before a row of seated men in a Gothic-style church interior with pointed arch windows. The seated men hold and pass slips of paper labeled with commodity and industry names such as Wool, Cotton, U.S. Steel, Meat, Lumber, Leather and Coal. The work is dated 1912 and signed by William Henry Walker.
