About this work
An ink drawing titled Greeted everywhere as greatest monarch by William Henry Walker, dated 1910. A richly robed figure with a plumed hat and ermine-trimmed cape stands at left, gesturing outward while a line of exaggerated, bowing men in formal dress, uniforms and top hats bends before him. The caricatured style emphasizes the men's deference through heavy hatching and bold contour lines.
