About this work
A pen-and-ink political cartoon shows a scarecrow with a sign reading "I am a Democrat, David B. Hill," standing in a field and gesturing while two crows in top hat and hat, labeled Independent Republican and Independent Democrat, watch from the path. A horseback rider and a child appear at the right edge beside a split-rail fence. The drawing is signed by William Henry Walker and dated 1904.
