About this work
A pen-and-ink caricature shows a uniformed admiral standing in a small boat filled with roses while a young boy steers from the stern beside a cannon. An eagle and a figure leaping in the sky wave American flags above a bursting cannon scene, and a banner on the boat reads Admiral Dewey and Battle of Manila Bay. William Henry Walker created the work, dated 1900.
