About this work
A charcoal-style drawing shows a polar bear standing upright, wearing a spiked Prussian helmet, facing a figure of Uncle Sam in top hat and striped trousers who is clad in segmented armor. The dark shaded background sets the two figures apart, and the work is signed by William Henry Walker and dated 1904.
