About this work
A bespectacled minister in a long striped coat holds an open book and gestures while preaching in a forest. A crowd of animals, including a moose, bears, an owl, rabbits and a squirrel, sit and write notes, and signboards on the trees read "Cruelty of U.S. Soldiers in the Philippines Water Cure" and "British Atrocities in South Africa and Chinese War." The pen-and-ink drawing by William Henry Walker is dated 1902.
