About this work
An ink drawing shows a lion with a crown and bandaged head, bleeding and limping on a barren ground, alongside a wounded eagle with an arrow and a broken sword. A smaller inset above shows the crowned lion standing on a rocky hill overlooking a landscape of pine trees and water, with a verse printed at its top right. The work is signed by William Henry Walker and dated 1901.
