About this work
A woodblock print showing a roadside scene with a tall pine and flowering trees in red and pink, beside a broad blue-green lake. Two figures in straw hats walk with a pole carried over their shoulders while a porter carries a yellow palanquin along the embankment, with thatched roofs and mountains in the distance. The print is credited to Utagawa Hiroshige, ca. 1842, and carries the Tokaido road series inscription with the station name Kusatsu.
