About this work

A woodblock print showing travelers crossing a long wooden trestle bridge over a broad river, with boatmen poling flat boats below. Temple-like buildings, pine trees, and a distant mountain fill the background beneath a pale sky. This Utagawa Hiroshige print, dated 1844, is held by the Library of Congress and carries Japanese calligraphy and a title cartouche at the top.

Print shows a wooden bridge from below spanning a river at the Okazaki station on the Tōkaidō Road; man on horseback crossing the bridge, boats on the river, and buildings in the near background, mountains in the distance.
