About this work

A Japanese woodblock print shows a large gnarled pine branch arching across the top of the composition above a lotus pond. Pink lotus blossoms and broad green leaves fill the foreground, with wooden posts and a rope barrier below a distant mountain range and an orange sunset. A printed text cartouche in the upper center carries the title, and the work is attributed to Tsukioka Yoshitoshi, dated 1867.
