About this work
A Japanese woodblock print shows a kabuki actor in a patterned striped kimono with a red collar and a large decorated headdress ornament. The upper panels depict a two-story riverside building with a lantern and pine trees beside water, and a large red shrimp, with the title written in vertical black cartouches. The work is attributed to Utagawa Kunisada (Toyokuni III) and dated 1853.
