About this work

A quadratura ceiling painting shows a winged female figure in flowing drapery blowing a long trumpet across a cloudy sky, with an eagle soaring above her. Below, a putto with a crown and a sword accompanies a group of reclining figures, all framed by painted classical moldings and architectural details. This is Guercino's ceiling painting, Casino dell'Aurora.
