About this work

An oil sketch shows a whitewashed cottage with a red-brown roof and chimney beside a riverbank, with a rainbow arching over dense green trees at left. A handwritten date inscription appears in the upper right corner, and the loose, rapid brushwork gives the scene an open-air, study-like character.
