About this work

This engraved title page for the Theatrum Pictorium by David Teniers the Younger shows a helmeted classical figure beside an oval portrait of a bearded man wreathed in laurel. Busts crown a stone balustrade, cherubs hold framed paintings, and a pedestal carries a dedicatory inscription. The lower border bears a multilingual notice that the books are for sale at Abraham Teniers' house in Antwerp.
