About this work
An engraved portrait shows a young woman seated in profile within an arched niche, holding an open newspaper on her lap while a cushion rests beside her. The sitter wears a fitted bodice with a ribbon tie and a long skirt, with her hair pinned up in braided coils. The lower margin carries the title Gazettiere Hollandoise, a dedication to Joseph de Raousset Comte de Boulbon, and a coat of arms, after a painting by Gerard ter Borch.
