A painting shows the winged messenger Mercury, identifiable by his winged helmet and caduceus, reclining on clouds with a scroll while a young winged Cupid leans in to examine it beside a quiver of arrows. The work is by François Boucher, dated 1738, and is held in a richly carved gilt rococo frame.
