About this work
A loosely drawn etching in pale ink shows three women gathered on the floor beside a wooden post or frame, one reclining with her legs extended and another bending over her. The sketchy, unfinished lines leave the setting largely suggested, and the work is presented as Pietà (first plate) by Jean-Louis Forain, dated 1910.
