About this work
This etching shows a bearded man in a wide-brimmed hat standing in the foreground, with a kneeling child reaching toward him beside a stretcher carrying a prone figure. Behind them a dense crowd of onlookers and reclining figures fills the scene in loose hatched strokes. Jean-Louis Forain made this print, titled Lourdes, Transport of the Paralyzed, in 1912.
