About this work
An engraved print titled The Coronation of the Virgin, attributed to Maerten de Vos and dated 1576, shows Christ and God the Father crowning the Virgin Mary on a cloud while a dove of the Holy Spirit descends above them. Allegorical figures of virtues fill the ornate border, and a Latin inscription from the Song of Songs and the Gospel of Luke appears at the top and bottom.
