About this work
An engraved print shows a group of armored soldiers with spears and banners gathered before a stone platform, while a young man in a shirt speaks animatedly among them. In the background, a tall warrior stands on a hill above rows of tents and a distant army. The Latin inscription along the bottom edge refers to words spoken by David before the king, and the work is attributed to Maarten van Heemskerck, dated 1556.
