About this work
A bust-length portrait of a young woman with her eyes lowered, shown in soft red and black chalk tones with pink highlights on her cheeks and bodice. She wears a white fichu, a pink-trimmed bodice, and a rose pinned at her shoulder, against a diagonally hatched grey background. The print is attributed to François Boucher and was engraved by L. Bonnet, with the inscription indicating a publication in Paris and the date 1767 in the plate lettering.
