About this work
This etching shows a woman in an apron stretching a cloth across a rickety wooden structure beside a small stream, with a cottage and a window at the right. A child peeks from behind the planks, and tall pines and grasses frame the rustic scene. The work is by François Boucher, dated 1756, and is titled La Blanchisseuse.
