About this work
A loose charcoal sketch shows a uniformed soldier in a kepi, arms flung wide, facing a second figure in a hooded cloak across a rocky, ruined landscape. The handwritten word "Kammerade" appears at the upper left and the French caption "Pourquoi cette froideur?" runs along the lower edge, with the artist's signature at lower right. Jean-Louis Forain made this print in 1914.
